Out of curiousity, what does it cost to strengthen a B18C1 bottom end in order to withstand around 10 psi with the JRSC?
I never found out from anyone what the parts (pistons, connecting rods, etc..) and labor would cost.

This one I know well:
Rods (Crowerods): $650
Pistons (JE 9.0:1): $550
Block guard (NuFormz): ~$125
Bearings (main and rod, Honda): $200
Misc. gaskets, seals, etc: $300
Labor (do it yourself.
): $0
Total: ~$2000

Well me personally, if I was thinking of strengthening for only going 10psi I would just go ten and see how she holds up. Build it if it breaks
I guess I have this attitude because I think one of the main reasons I went with the JRSC was to avoid building my motor, now at 8psi I have the right setup to run this till it just can't take anymore (this should be a good long while) but if I was even having the built motor lingering in my mind, I would probably (would have) switch over to turbo. I don't have the money to contribute to my insaciable need for boost right now so the blower is what I stick with
Though I think it would be cool to run more boost on our applications it just isn't in the cards, nor is it that easy to get too much more out of it

Mr Rogers,
Not that I want to start a turbo vs. SC debate but I want more power with SC response. After driving some of my buddy's 300ZX TT, Eclipse GSX, etc, I really don't like the turbo feel.
If only I could get turbo power with SC feel....

I have friends with Mr2's and turbo Preludes and I've driven a turbo GSR. I have to say, VTEC engines respond very well to turbo's. They make godly amounts of HP even with conservative boost.
When I bought a SC, my friends said "You bought a what?!"
But since the car is daily driven with over 112K on the odometer this wasn't the best candiate for turbo. But I've noticed with any kind of forced induction, you almost accept the fact that the engine will eventually give out and a rebuild will be necessary. I've seen plenty of people blow their motors and not even feel bad about it.
My next car is gonna be a Civic hatchback with a JDM B16A with a drag III turbo setup. I figure SC is for daily drivers and turbo's are for track cars.

MarkC: You're one of the big dogs in the turbo mafia and I respect that, but dude, 9.0:1 for 10 psi?! Isn't that pretty low? I wouldn't go any lower than 9.5:1 unless I was planning on more than 15 psi. I'm no expert though.

I totally know what you are saying about the debate and I can't even go there because I haven't driven any one of the 3 turbo A/H cars that I have access to. I jsut look at it from a demishing gain view, I totally accepted the fact that I was not going to have too much further togo after the 8psi step but that is just the way it is. I also have seen the GOBS of power in action and though the only turbo that has beat me is the Civic HB running 13lbs, putting 270 fwhp is very temping (finances willing). But I am still in school and I work full time also, so I am very content with what I have. I mean, I still whoop on lots of cars and being stuck at 8psi is a serious "Safety net" that I like
Though if I was given say 15k to do a car, I would try the Civic HB w/ built bottom end FMAX'ed H22

On another thread someone (I forget who) said that at 8psi & stock CR they had slightly MORE power than 12 psi & 9:1. This was on a JRSC GSR.
